Meet the LAFN Leadership

LAFN is led by an all-volunteer team of co-leaders who are deeply committed to fostering connections in the nonprofit sector. They plan events, engage expert speakers, host monthly check-ins, manage communications, and much more.

Madeline Stewart

Madeline Stewart came to LA in 2014 and has spent the past 12 years exploring coffee shops and college campuses, adventuring from tide pools to mountain trails. As a Major Gifts Officer with Food Forward, Inc., she supports their work to fight hunger and reduce food waste—rescuing fresh surplus produce from backyards, farmers markets, and wholesale markets—then distributing it to hunger relief agencies throughout California and neighboring states. With nearly 20 years in fundraising, much of her career focused on raising unrestricted operating support for independent schools, engaging large teams of volunteers for peer-to-peer solicitation. She loves ideating about mini-campaigns, participation challenges, and other ways to rally a community to the cause (let’s chat!). Madeline excited to bring her enthusiasm for community-building to the LA Fundraisers Network.

Joe Mata

Joe Mataoe Anthony Mata III is the Founder and Lead Consultant at Mata Missions, a consulting firm providing CRM strategy, migration, and training to nonprofits in the $10M-$10M revenue range. Specializing in Salesforce, Bloomerang, and Raiser's Edge support, the firm focuses on removing the burden that pulls teams away from direct service. Joe is building Mata Missions as a family business with a clear purpose: to serve communities by serving the organizations that show up for them every day. He holds a Bachelor's in Legal Studies with a minor in Public Policy from UC Berkeley, and has spent his career in nonprofits and elected offices dedicated to public service before founding Mata Missions. That background directly shapes his approach to working with nonprofits as an extension of the mission the organization is already carrying out.
